Pet insurance for senior cats
Senior cats are where chronic disease concentrates, which makes both the case for cover and the obstacles to it sharper.
The common conditions arrive here
Kidney disease, hyperthyroidism and diabetes are far more likely in older cats, and all three tend to mean ongoing cost rather than a single bill. If any has already been diagnosed, it will normally be excluded from a new policy.
Renewal handling is the key question
For chronic conditions, what matters is whether a condition covered this year remains covered next year. Providers differ, and this single point can matter more than the annual limit or the reimbursement percentage.
Enrollment limits and premiums
As with dogs, some providers cap the age at which a new accident-and-illness policy can start, and premiums are higher. Compare what would realistically remain eligible against the annual cost before deciding.
Common questions
My cat has early kidney disease — can I insure her?
You can usually still buy a policy, but that condition and anything related will almost certainly be excluded as pre-existing. Cover would apply to unrelated new problems.

The comparison tool narrows the list based on your pet and what you want covered. It does not recommend a policy — that decision depends on your pet's history and your finances.
