Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-06
This Privacy Policy explains what data Our Pet Health collects when you use this website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. We've kept it in plain English. If anything is unclear, email hello@ourpethealth.com.
1. Information we collect
We collect only the data needed to operate the site and the tools we offer:
- Email addresses you submit to subscribe to our newsletter, request the free Pet Health Cheatsheet, or join the smart-tracker waitlist.
- Pet health checker inputs — pet type, age, symptoms, activity, eating, drinking, environment, and duration. Used to compute your risk score.
- Contact form submissions — your name, email, subject, and message.
- Request metadata — IP address, user-agent string, and page URLs visited. Used for security, abuse prevention, and aggregate analytics.
- Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 3 below.
We do not collect government IDs, payment data, precise geolocation, biometric data, or contact lists. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
2. How we use your information
We use the data we collect to:
- Deliver the service you requested (send the cheatsheet, send a health-check report, reply to your message, notify you at smart-tracker launch).
- Operate, maintain, and improve the website and its tools.
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and spam.
- Comply with legal obligations.
- Show advertising and measure its performance (see Section 4).
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your email address or pet data to train AI models. We do not share your email with third parties for their marketing.
3. Cookies and tracking
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. We use cookies for:
- Strictly necessary cookies — session continuity, security, and remembering form progress. The site does not function without these.
- Analytics cookies — privacy-respecting, aggregated traffic statistics so we know which pages help people most.
- Advertising cookies — set by Google AdSense and other advertising partners (see Section 4) to show ads that may be relevant to you and to limit how often you see the same ad.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site (form submissions, the health checker) may not work correctly without them.
4. Advertising partners — Google AdSense and others
This website uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on our site, including the DoubleClick DART cookie, which enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this and other sites on the internet.
You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You may also opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting aboutads.info (US), NAI (US), or Your Online Choices (EU).
We may also work with affiliate partners (for example, pet insurance providers and pet retailers). When you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission. Affiliate links never affect the price you pay. We disclose affiliate relationships clearly in content where they appear.
5. Data sharing and disclosure
We share data only in these limited cases:
- Service providers we rely on (hosting, email delivery, analytics, advertising) — bound by contract to use your data only to provide that service.
- Legal requests — when required by valid legal process, or when necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Our Pet Health, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers — if Our Pet Health is merged, acquired, or sells assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or control.
6. Data security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data — encryption in transit (HTTPS), restricted access to production systems, and regular dependency updates. No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data retention
We keep submitted data only as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations:
- Newsletter subscribers — until you unsubscribe.
- Health-check submissions — up to 24 months for aggregate analytics, then anonymised.
- Contact form messages — up to 24 months for follow-up history.
- Server access logs — up to 90 days for security monitoring.
You can request deletion at any time by emailing hello@ourpethealth.com.
8. Your rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Port your data to another service in a machine-readable format.
- Object to certain processing, including direct marketing.
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing relies on consent.
- Opt out of "sale" or "share" of personal information (CCPA) — we do not sell or share personal information as defined under the CCPA.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@ourpethealth.com. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has submitted personal data to us, contact hello@ourpethealth.com and we will delete it promptly.
10. International data transfers
Our Pet Health is operated from the United States. If you access the site from outside the US, your data will be transferred to and processed in the US. We use Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards where applicable for transfers from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland.
11. Do Not Track
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no industry-standard interpretation of this signal yet, so this site does not currently respond to it. We will update this section if a clear standard is adopted.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced on this page and, where appropriate, by email. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
13. Contact us
Questions about this Privacy Policy or your data? Email hello@ourpethealth.com or use the contact form. We aim to reply within 1–2 business days.
