Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 2026-05-06

These Terms govern your use of Our Pet Health's website, tools, and services (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. Plain-English summaries appear in italics beside each clause.

Important: Educational use only

Our Pet Health's website, blog, symptom guides, and Health Checker are for informational and educational purposes only. They are not veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Animal health is individual — what's safe for one pet may not be for another. Always consult a licensed veterinarian for medical concerns. If your pet is in distress or showing emergency symptoms, contact a veterinarian or an emergency animal hospital immediately. Never delay seeking professional care because of something you read on this site.

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you are using the Service on behalf of a company or other entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

Plain English: using Our Pet Health means you agree to these rules.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using the Service you represent that you are of legal age to form a binding contract.

3. Educational nature of content — no veterinary advice

The Service provides general information about pet health for educational purposes. The Pet Health Checker is a heuristic, rule-based tool that scores common symptom patterns. It does not:

  • Diagnose any condition.
  • Prescribe treatment.
  • Replace examination by a licensed veterinarian.
  • Account for your pet's complete medical history.

You are solely responsible for your pet's care. Decisions about medication, surgery, or treatment should always be made with a qualified veterinarian.

Plain English: this site is a starting point, not a doctor.

4. Intellectual property

The Service — including text, graphics, logos, code, symptom guides, blog content, and the Pet Health Checker engine — is owned by Our Pet Health or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You may view and share content for personal, non-commercial use with attribution. You may not copy, republish, sell, or use the content for commercial purposes without our written permission.

5. User submissions

When you submit information to the Service (email signup, contact message, health-checker inputs, waitlist entry):

  • You confirm the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
  • You grant Our Pet Health a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use that information to provide and improve the Service, in line with our Privacy Policy.
  • You retain ownership of your submitted data and may request deletion at any time.

6. Acceptable use

When using the Service, you agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to compromise, disrupt, or interfere with the Service or its security.
  • Scrape, crawl, or harvest data at unreasonable rates or in violation of robots.txt.
  • Reverse-engineer or attempt to extract source code, except where permitted by law.
  • Submit false, misleading, abusive, or harmful content through any form.
  • Impersonate any person or entity.
  • Use automated tools to submit health-checker queries or bypass rate limits.

We may suspend or terminate access for any violation of this section.

7. Third-party links and services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites, products, or services (including pet insurance providers, pet retailers, telehealth platforms, and others). We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or terms. Your use of any third-party service is at your own risk and subject to that party's terms.

8. Affiliate and advertising disclosure

The Service is supported by advertising and affiliate partnerships:

  • Advertising — we display ads through Google AdSense and other networks. Ads are clearly labeled.
  • Affiliate links — some links to third-party products or services are affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence our editorial recommendations.

See our Privacy Policy for details on cookies used by advertising partners.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

You assume all responsibility for any decisions you make based on information from the Service. We do not warrant that the Service will detect every possible health issue or correctly classify every symptom pattern.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Our Pet Health, its founders, employees, contractors, advisors, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the service — including but not limited to any harm to a pet, veterinary costs, or other damages, whether based in contract, tort, or any other legal theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total cumulative liability to you for any and all claims arising out of or related to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) one hundred US dollars (US$100) or (b) the amount you have paid Our Pet Health in the twelve months preceding the claim (which is typically zero, as the website is free).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so the above limits may not fully apply to you. In such cases, our liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Our Pet Health and its team from any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party right.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason — including violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (Intellectual Property, Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Governing Law) shall survive.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. You and Our Pet Health agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute informally by contacting hello@ourpethealth.com. If we cannot resolve a dispute within 30 days, either party may pursue legal action in the state or federal courts located in the State of Delaware, United States, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced on this page. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Severability and entire agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest will remain in full force. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Our Pet Health concerning the Service.

16. Contact
