Some signs need same-day attention even if your pet seems otherwise bright. Call a practice straight away if you see:

- Repeated vomiting, or vomiting with no appetite
- Straining to urinate, especially a male cat
- A swollen, hard or painful abdomen
- Pale, white or yellow gums
- Collapse, seizures or sudden weakness
- Heavy bleeding, or a wound that gapes
- Known contact with something toxic
